.: A bigger step...
I know that I just started my blog, but I had a project come together a lot more quickly than I thought it would. I want to be able to have a "Song of the Week" and I wanted to find a clean looking player that would let me quickly and easily update the playlist and keep me out of trouble with the recording industry by having my mp3's available for download to anyone who wants them. So, I found the media player to the right and did some reverse engineering to make it work for my blog.
The four songs that are currently on the list were test songs in building the player, but I also really like all of them. I had to, of course, have a Dashboard Confessional song and I really like the lyrics to this song. I think they are really clever. This is one of the first Dashboard songs I heard while I was working at the Image Shop at WSU. It is one of the songs that got me hooked on Dashboard Confessional.
I first heard of Shinedown while watching American Idol - Season 5. "I Dare You" was performed by Chris Daughtry. I heard it a few times later that week on my iTunes radio station I listen to at work and I was hooked. Chris was cut way too early in my opinion, by the way. NOTE: My sister-in-law, Sariah, complains that she doesn't have anyone to talk about Idol with, but not only can she talk with me about it now, she can listen to it, too!
I was introduced to Imogen Heap by my friend Scott. This is the song that he played for me. He had heard about it on NPR. I really liked the artistic aspect of the song that she is the only one singing. She is singing into some kind of box that has wires in it that use harmonics and vibration to get her voice to sound like it does. Pretty cool. Also, she is the lead singer for a band called Frou Frou and they are on the Garden State soundtrack. That is one of my favorite movies and soundtracks so you will definitely see more of Imogen on the Song of the Week.
The last song was a joke for my wife. We always laughed how on American Idol, they played the video in slow motion for the person who was kicked off. "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter is the song that they played during the video. So, if you listen to this song, make sure you do everything in slow motion!
Anyway, it's late and I need to head to bed, but I am really excited about the Song of the Week section of my blog. If there are any songs that you want to suggest, I'll see if I own them and feature them.
PS: I need to thank Sariah for inspiring the Song of the Week in her comments in Alyson's blog.
